Which Teams Are Overvalued in UEFA’s Top Three Club Competitions 2025

The 2024/25 elite European football season has reached its business end, and the pressure has been ramped up a notch for a plethora of clubs chasing silverware. While the English, German, and French title races look wrapped up, the end of the Spanish and Italian campaigns seem set to go down to the wire.
In La Liga, Barcelona look to hold off the two capital city giants to claim the crown, and their current three-point advantage to both sides appears particularly slender. Meanwhile, in Serie A, reigning champions Inter Milan have been unable to pull away from Napoli, with Antonio Conte’s side just one point behind and Atalanta also lurking menacingly.
But it isn’t just domestic matters that are still yet to be resolved. There is also the small matter of three UEFA competitions that will also be decided between now and May. And in each competition, some teams are looking overvalued by the bookies.
Inter Milan
A lot of people are curious about Inter Milan’s online sports betting odds and are eagerly checking these out online. The latest online sports betting at the popular Bovada site currently make Inter Milan a +1000 outsider to win the Champions League this season, and quite a few people are surprised by that! The Nerazzurri reached the final two years ago, defeating cross-city rivals AC Milan in the semifinals en route to the Istanbul showpiece. Under the bright lights, they perhaps should have beaten Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona, with Romelu Lukaku missing a host of chances and allowing Blues midfielder Rodri to sweep home late on.
Two years on from the heartbreak, Inter are stronger than ever. They already have one foot in the quarterfinals thanks to a resounding 2-0 victory against Feyenoord in the first leg of their last 16 tie in Rotterdam, but still, they remain unfancied. At +1000, they are only considered the sixth favorites, and considering they are already pretty much assured of a spot in the last eight, surely their odds should be shorter.
Even Arsenal are priced shorter than the Italian champions, and they are set for a date with Real Madrid in the quarterfinals. Inter, meanwhile, look set to meet a Bayern Munich side that is hardly the superpower of old, and it’s a clash they are certainly capable of winning. They won’t meet the much fancied Los Blancos until the final, should they make it that far, and at their current odds, they certainly look like a tempting outside bet.
Real Sociedad
Now, we head over into the Europa League, and the race to win the continent’s second-tier tournament looks tighter than ever. Lazio are the current +450 favorites, despite their lack of pedigree on the European stage. They are closely followed by their cross-city rivals Roma at +750, with Premier League giants Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur sandwiched between them at +500 and +550, respectively.
However, nestled away at +1400, we have Real Sociedad, and much of that pricing is due to the fact that they drew the first leg of their second-round tie with Manchester United with a final score of 1-1. But just because they drew on home turf, don’t expect them to crumble at the hands of the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim’s side has struggled badly this season, especially at home. They have lost to Fulham (twice), Crystal Palace, and Brighton in recent weeks. Expecting them to breeze past an impressive Sociedad side containing the likes of Euro 2024 winner Mikel Oyarzabal and Liverpool target Martin Zubimendi could be a grave error. If the Spaniards do come through that test and progress to the quarterfinals, then their current odds will shorten drastically.
They will meet either FCSB of Romania or Ligue 1 outfit Lyon in the last eight, and that will be another contest they are expected to win. Add to that the fact that the final will be held in the home of their rivals Athletic Bilbao, and Sociedad could well be more motivated than anyone to win the trophy this season.
Real Betis
This season’s Conference League is expected to be won by one team: Chelsea. The Premier League heavyweights are more accustomed to featuring in the Champions League, claiming the famous Big-Eared trophy twice in their history, firstly in 2012 and again nine years later. This term, however, they find themselves down in Europe’s third-tier tournament, and they’re a huge -180 betting favorite to go all the way.
The benefit of having Chelsea priced as such an overwhelming favorite is that the rest of the betting market will have plenty of value. We think the team that is the best bet to beat the Blues are Real Betis, who are currently a +650 second favorite. The Spanish outfit has plenty of quality across the park, and in the likes of former Real Madrid playmaker Isco, they have a player who is capable of unlocking even the tightest defense.
The recent loan signing of the maligned Manchester United winger Antony has proven to be a masterstroke. The Brazilian looks reborn in Seville, scoring wondergoal after wondergoal, and his brilliance could well be the X-Factor needed to usurp the heavily favored Chelsea. The two frontrunners have been drawn into opposing sides of the tournament bracket, meaning that they won’t meet until the final, and there, Betis will have as good a chance as anybody of beating the former European Champions.
